SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING (SIL)
Supported independent living is one type of support to help you live in your home. It includes help or supervision with daily tasks, like personal care or cooking meals. It helps you live as independently as possible, while building your skills. Supported independent living is for people with higher support needs, who need some level of help at home all the time..This is a great way to develop self-support. SIL services are provided to participants at home, whether it’s their home, a private rental, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) or shared-living arrangements.
There are three levels of support that SIL is funded under by the NDIS:
- Lower needs – not usually 24/7. Includes supervision of living arrangements.
- Standard needs – 24/7 support. Includes assistance and supervision of most daily tasks, and Support Worker overnight sleepovers.
- Higher needs – 24/7 active support, including overnight. Includes frequent with managing challenging behaviours that require positive behaviour support, assistance with daily tasks.
Eligibility:

Cost:
- Fees are paid by the National Disability Insurance Scheme for people with an approved Plan.
